The level of social inequality in Israel has reached a new, record level - the conclusion was made by the experts of the center "Adva" following the results of the traditional annual report.
The average monthly income of a family from the "upper" strata of Israeli society was 58.846 shekels before taxes, which is 12 times higher than the average monthly income of a family from the "lower" strata (4898 shekels).
The report recorded a growth in income of Israeli families, starting in 2012 - from 10 to 17%. Experts focus on the positivity of this statistics, comparing it with the "lost decade", when from 2000 to 2011 the average income of Israeli families almost did not grow. The main reasons for the increase in incomes were the growth in the number of working members of the family and the minimum wage.
From 2000 to 2016, the income level of the poorest families in the country grew by 58%, the richest - by 73%.
In the wealthy strata of the population, the number of families owning two or more apartments has risen: from 7.9% in 2007 to 29.1% in 2016. The same indicator for the same period in the poorest sections of the population of the Jewish state grew by 1.6%.
The main factor of income in the country is wages: in 2016, it accounted for 78.4% of all household incomes. In 2000, this indicator was 79%.
One of the most alarming statistical indicators of the report was the fact that in 2016, 25% of families headed by a person of working age did not have pensions.
Men of Ashkenazi origin, whose families have lived in Israel for at least two generations, receive an average of 15,000 shekels a month. The average salary of men of Sephardic origin, whose families have been resident in the country for two generations, is 14,400 shekels a month.
Women of Ashkenazi origin receive an average of 9,017 shekels a month. Women of Sephardic origin - 8640 shekels a month. The least received in Israel are women of Arab origin and women with Ethiopian roots.
