Leading specialist in gastroenterology and immunology Eran Elinav from the Research Institute of Weizmann in Rehovot suggested using sugar to measure blood sugar.
According to the scientist, this will make it possible to understand how the body reacts to what you usually eat.
The fact is, the expert explains that the higher the blood sugar level after eating food, the higher the risk of gaining excess weight, obesity, as well as the development of type 2 diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. Frequent and high rises in blood sugar cause the pancreas to produce insulin more actively, which triggers a cascade of biochemical reactions leading to the accumulation of adipose tissue and damage to blood vessels.
The scientist advised to buy a home glucometer, and measure sugar before eating and an hour after. Thus it is possible to understand what products cause a strong splash of sugar in the blood, and, accordingly, lead to a set of excess weight. The exclusion of these products from the diet will help not only to lose weight, but also to improve the cardiovascular system.
To reduce and stabilize blood sugar there are general recommendations.
1.There are small portions, because eaten immediately in large quantities of food leads to a jump in sugar.
2. There are fresh and not excessively sweet fruits.
3. Drink more water.
4. Do not give up fat. Avoiding fats helps increase sugar, while eating butter, cheese and eggs helps lower blood sugar after eating.
