The bill was introduced to the Knesset by Shuli Muallem-Raphaely (Jewish House).
The bill is approved in the second and third reading. 64 deputies voted for the law, against 51.
According to the new law, in order to change the status of Jerusalem and any transfers of the territory of Jerusalem within the framework of future diplomatic agreements, a majority of 80 Knesset members will now be required.
The law also for the first time since 1967 establishes the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem.
