The number of violators on the night of January 1

Police released information on the number of drivers detained for traffic violations (traffic rules) on the night of January 1.

As stated in the police press release, on the night of December 31, as of January 1, thousands of regular police and volunteers were involved in special operations to ensure the safety of citizens and monitor compliance with traffic rules.

Traffic inspectors issued 270 fines to undisciplined drivers, 48 of them were fined for drunk driving.

100 drivers were stopped at speeding. Policemen canceled on the spot, for a period of 30 days, drivers' rights of 65 motorists who committed extreme offenses on the roads.

As the "Cursor" informed, on the night of December 31, 2017 (Sunday), as of January 1, 2018 (Monday), about 80 routes of night buses cruised in almost 100 settlements of Israel, from Nahariya to Eilat.

Buses transported those who wished to celebrate New Year's Eve, connecting residential areas with central entertainment points.

Night bus routes operate on weekends, during school holidays and on the eve of holidays, and annually transport hundreds of thousands of young people, students, soldiers and workers during the night. At the same time, the price of a ticket is the usual price for fare in public transport during the daytime.

Minister Yisrael Katz, on the eve of the holidays, called on everyone who plans to celebrate the New Year in the entertainment centers, using night buses.

"We offer the ideal solution - a safe, convenient and cheap way to travel at nighttime to the central entertainment points and back home.

This does not require additional costs, excludes driving under the influence of alcohol and movement with the help of passing trucks. We will continue to expand this project, so that everyone who plans an evening of entertainment has the opportunity to take advantage of this affordable alternative, "the minister said on December 31.
