Israeli Minister of Environment and Affairs of Jerusalem Zeev Elkin called on Russia to follow the example of the United States and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
"Jerusalem is our capital, it was, and will continue to be, in this sense, what the American president declared yesterday is absolutely natural, I hope that leaders of many other countries will follow him," the minister said.
"By the way, Russia said that it recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and it's time to think about transferring the Russian embassy to Jerusalem, not just American," Elkin added.
Russia announced in April that it recognizes West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and the eastern part of the city as the capital of Palestine.
