Jared Kouchner, son-in-law of the US president and his senior adviser on problems of the Middle East, said at the Sabana Forum in the United States that the achievement of peace between Israel and the Palestinians is a necessary condition for regional stability.

This statement is at odds with the official point of view of the Israeli authorities claiming that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not the primary problem of the region and urging the world to "leave Israel alone" and tackle other tasks. According to "Haaretz", Kouchner rejected the criticism that the Trump administration is subjected to in connection with its Middle East policy.

"This is not an ordinary team, but it's an excellent team. When we thought about how to assemble the team, the president and I focused on those who have the highest qualifications, "Kouchner said about the group preparing the agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.

"There is no better real estate lawyer than Jason Greenblatt, and there are many issues related to real estate. We have Dina Powell, who very much helped us to develop a regional economic plan of action after the peace agreement. We paid much attention to what will happen after the agreement - how will you create better conditions in the future, "Kouchner said.

"Both sides really trust the president, and this is very important. When the process began, our team tried very hard to listen to the opinion not only of the Israelis, but also of the Palestinians, to understand what their views and red lines are. We did the same in different countries of the region. We are trying to find a solution that is acceptable for the region, rather than impose it, "Kouchner said.

Concerning the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, Kouchner said that Trump "weighs this opportunity."
