Today the Minister of Transport and Intelligence Israel Katz took part in the event timed to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the historic UN resolution of November 29, 1947.
As the press service of Israel Katz reminds, it is a question of the "plan for the partition of Palestine", which allowed the creation of a Jewish and Arab state on the Mandated British territory, after the departure of the British.
Speaking from the rostrum of the United Nations, Katz turned to US Vice President Mike Pence, who is present in the hall: "It's time to fulfill President Donald Trump's promise and move the American Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem."
On the eve of Trump's decision on the presidential decree to postpone the embassy, Katz declared:
"This day, in this same room, 70 years ago was the adoption of a historic decision. I appeal to you on my behalf and on behalf of the State of Israel: it's time for the United States to recognize Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people - for 3000 years - the capital of the State of Israel. "
In his speech, the minister quoted from the TANAKH, emphasizing the unique status of Jerusalem, along with its special significance for the Jewish people: "My house will be called the house of prayer for all nations" (The Book of the Prophet Yeshayahu).
In his speech, the Minister added: "I want to address you, my Jewish brothers and sisters in America, and say that we are proud of you, we thank you for your contribution to the creation and development, as well as assistance in ensuring the security of the State of Israel - with the time of its foundation to this day. "
Katz also thanked those present "for strengthening special relations between Israel and the United States. When Israel is strong, you are strong. When you are strong, Israel is growing stronger! ".
The official visit of Israel Katz to the US continues. For tomorrow, November 29, the White House is scheduled to meet with the Special Representative of US President Trump in the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt.
