A new Jewish cemetery in the town of Busha in the UK was awarded an international design award at the World Architecture Festival.
Controlled by the United Synagogue (OS), the new Busheyskoye cemetery, which the chief rabbi of England visited in May, received an award in the category "religion", as the jury praised the use of natural features and eco-friendly landscape design.
Michael Goldstein, president of the OS, said: "The new Bushey cemetery has beauty and dignity, a worthy place of rest for our relatives is created here. We are very pleased that the architectural office of Waugh Thistleton was recognized for the remarkable work that they did. "
Architects Waugh Thistleton Architects, which was commissioned to design a cemetery, used water objects, and also created modern rooms, the walls of which are made of pressed natural materials. Waugh Thistleton Architects director Andrew Waugh said: "We are very pleased to win this prestigious award, competing at the international level, which means special recognition. Support and cooperation with the United Synagogue were very important for the success of the project. "
