The leaders of the Jewish Agency and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) in the US offered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a list of six candidates whom they consider worthy successors to Nathan Sharansky as chairman of the Jewish Agency.

The members of the JFNA and the Jewish Agency's leadership were informed about this by the Jerusalem Post.

The list includes the Minister of Energy Yuval Steinitz, the opposition leader Itzhak Herzog, the deputy from the Zionist camp Nahman Shay, the Consul General of Israel in New York, Dani Dian, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer and the former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prozor.

Chairman of the Board Michael Seagal, JFNA President Jerry Silverman and JFNA Israel Vice President Rebecca Caspi approved these names and asked Netanyahu to choose one of the candidates.

The candidate, coordinated with Netanyahu and the Jewish leaders, will be submitted for a vote when the Board of Directors of the Jewish Agency meets in Jerusalem in February 2018.
