Saudi writer Ahmad al-Afraj, speaking on television, called for establishing normal relations with Israel. According to him, the boycott of the Jewish state is meaningless.
In an interview with the Rotana television channel, Ahmad al-Afraj said that Saudi Arabia's main enemies today are Iran, as well as Yemen and Qatar, and not Israel. He stressed that we should recognize the Jewish state and coexist normally with it. Al-Afraj described the issue of Palestinians as "second most important" for the Arab world (probably after the conflict with Iran).
The interview caused a lot of feedback in the media and in the Arab Internet segment. Many commentators expressed confidence that the writer acted in preparation for the formation of a formal relationship between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This is written, in particular, by Al-Sharq, who mentioned that Israel plans to connect its railways to the Jordanian ones and establish a transport connection with the Persian Gulf. It should be noted that this is an initiative of Israel's Minister of Transport and Intelligence Israel Kats, which has not yet been finally approved.
Previously, it was repeatedly reported on the rapprochement between the two countries and that members of the Saudi royal family and senior officials secretly visited Israel. Official confirmation of these rumors did not receive.
