A record number of Jewish pilgrims on the Temple Mount. Jordan: "Al-Aksu was stormed by extremists"

About 1,300 Jews visited the Temple Mount on August 1, the day of the fast of the 9th Av (according to the legend, the Temple of Jerusalem was twice destroyed). Most of them (1043 people) climbed the mountain until noon, despite the intense heat.
In the evening the hill was again opened and a pilgrimage was made by 250 more Israelis.
The press reports that this was the most massive visit to the Temple Mount in one day for the entire period after the end of the Six Day War in 1967, when Israel took control of the Old City. Probably, the motive for such a massive ascension to the mountain was the recent events around the framework of metal detectors, the dismantling of which was perceived by Muslims as a victory.
All Jews passed through the Mughrabi gates, the only ones intended exclusively for non-Muslim visitors. There, as before, they went through the frame detectors and left their IDs with the police. People were run by groups that accompanied the police.

For all the hot and stressful day of fasting on the Temple Mount, two incidents occurred. First, a group of Jews was removed from the esplanade because of a violation of the rules of the visit, which forbade Jews to pray on the Temple Mount.
Then there was a skirmish with the Muslims, who did not allow the Jews to descend from the mountain to the Wailing Wall through the Chain Gate. Police led them through the gates of Mughrabi.
In the meantime, Jordan reacted sharply to the mass pilgrimage of the Jews to the Temple Mount. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom, Ayman Safadi, said at the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that "the number of extremists who stormed Al-Aqsu today was the largest since 1967". "The crisis is over. But many more dangerous crises will arise because of Israeli violations, "the Jordanian minister said. "They will continue until Israel rips up the roots of tension and will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders."
