Summer baby boom in Israel: the number of newborns has increased by 20%

This summer in Israel there is an unprecedented surge in the birth rate.
Maternity wards in the country's hospitals are overcrowded. In some medical institutions women in childbirth are placed in corridors and canteens, and deliveries take place in the reception rooms.
At Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, the number of women in childbirth increased by 10% compared to last summer. In the hospital "Hillel Jaffe", the percentage of maternity wards increased by 20%.
The increase in the number of women giving birth is also reported by A-Emek hospitals in Afula, Soroca in Beersheba, Rambam in Haifa, Meir in Kfar Saba, Laniado in Netanya, Barzilai in Ashkelon and Medical Center of Galilee in Naarie.
According to the head of the maternity ward at the hospital "Hillel Jaffa", Dr. Haim David, in the summer the number of births always increases, however, this year there is a particularly high growth. "It's likely that people plan to give birth for the summer because of vacations or because there are less illnesses in the summer," he says.
