Why does not Kiev extradite Saakashvili to Georgia?

Georgian Chief Prosecutor Irakli Shotadze said that the Georgian authorities used all possible ways to extradite former President Mikhail Saakashvili from Ukraine to Tbilisi, but a refusal was received from Kiev.

"We twice appealed to our Ukrainian colleagues for a request for Saakashvili's extradition, but both of them were rejected because of the provision in the Ukrainian constitution, which forbids the transfer of their citizens to third countries," Shotadze said.

At the same time, he added that the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia continues to work with colleagues from Ukraine. "We sent all the accusatory materials against Saakashvili to Kiev," the prosecutor stressed.

The Georgian authorities accuse Mikhail Saakashvili of exceeding his official powers and squandering public funds. According to the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, if Saakashvili appears on the territory of Georgia, he will be arrested.
