The oldest synagogue in Birobidzhan received a second life

In the capital of the Jewish Autonomous Region, the grand opening of the oldest Birobidzhan "Beit Tshuva" synagogue took place, whose major repairs were completed.
The revival of one of the centers of Judaism of the capital of the EAO was supported by the local entrepreneur. One of the centers of Judaism in Birobidzhan is the synagogue, located on Mayakovsky Street. It was opened in 1986, many Birobidzhans began to visit it, among which the representatives of the older generation prevailed. Over the past years, the building has not been completely repaired and has come to a critical state.
Six months ago, representatives of the Birobidzhan community of Beit Tshuva appealed for targeted support to the local entrepreneur, and she overhauled the building of the synagogue at its own expense. The day before the solemn opening of the oldest synagogue of Birobidzhan, received a second life.

Representatives of the Birobidzhan Jewish religious community "Freud" (the main center of Judaism of Birobidzhan) and the chief rabbi of the Jewish Autonomous Region Eli Riss took part in the opening ceremony of the synagogue.
Roman Leder, chairman of the Council of the Birobidzhan Jewish Religious Community "Freud", shared the general joy. He congratulated fellow countrymen on the 80th anniversary of their beloved city, in which the last twenty years there has been a powerful religious upsurge and strengthening of cooperation between different diasporas.
Recall that in Birobidzhan is continuing the construction of a two-story building, which will house the Jewish youth center and mikvah - a pool for the ritual bathing of religious married Jews. The final view of the object will take place in the spring of 2018.
