Almost 40% of Israelis of retirement age continue to work

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a list of countries with the largest number of citizens over 65 who continue to work.

This is stated in the report of the organization, reported on December 12 Lenta.ru.

The list was headed by Ireland, where more than half (56.3 percent) of citizens aged 65 to 69 continue to work. The second was Indonesia (50.6 percent), the third - South Korea with 45 percent. The top ten also included Japan (42.8 percent), Chile (39.9 percent), Israel (39.3 percent), Mexico (38.6 percent), China (36 percent) and India (35.8 percent).

Among the five countries with the lowest number of workers among older citizens, according to the report, are Luxembourg, where after 65 years no one works at all, Belgium (4.7 percent), Hungary (5.3 percent), Slovenia (5.2), Slovakia (5.6).

Information about the Russians, who continue to work after 65 years, is not included in the report.

Domination in the list of countries where citizens over 65 years of age continue working activities is due to differences in the culture and legislation of European and Asian countries. So, in some European countries workers can be fined if they continue to work after the retirement age. Attempts by the authorities to raise the age of retirement were met with protests. In many Asian countries, citizens have supported the idea of increasing the retirement age. In particular, in Japan in 2025 the age of retirement will be raised to 65 years.
